Someday in the future, hopefully sooner than later, the nationwide ban on gay marriage will no longer be an issue.
Decades from now, the topic will be something a younger generation will look back on in amazement, much in the same way my generation looks back on the sixties bewildered by the idea that just ten years before I was born, Americans were so hateful and prejudiced that African Americans couldn’t even sit next to a white person in a restaurant.
This debate can and will continue, but I think it’s important for you to know that in the end you will be remembered as nothing more than a small-minded fool, someone who rallied against others only because they were different.
You will become a family punchline, and your grandchildren will chalk you up as being both ignorant and intolerant.
“My grandparents still use the word ‘faggot,’” they’ll embarrassingly admit to their friends. “But they’re just old bigots; they’re too small-minded to know any better.”
And they’ll be right.
When the final chapter is written on this part of American history, the very thing you fought against will be passed anyway… and you and your kind will be remembered as the villains.
May you all live long enough to see both happen.

It must be harder to actually have to be IN the state while it’s going on.
My aunt is gay. My wife has an aunt that’s gay. Three past employers are gay. Dozens of friends and countless classmates in college are gay.
I guess what I’m saying is that they ARE. You can’t vote that away. You can’t keep them from going buck wild in their sexual sanctuaries of sin. You can’t stop them from loving who they choose. So why put up the barriers at marriage? And why do the straight people get to make the choice? I can already see the intolerance, insanity and ignorance. I hope I see it remedied in my lifetime.

No, the California Supreme Court just upheld the gay marriage ban here this morning.
And EXACTLY, Josh. It makes me embarrassed to live in a state that actively and openly does this to any kind or creed. Especially when gay people are getting married in Iowa.
IOWA!!!

Don’t look at me i voted for Adam Lambert. what are you talking about again? Anyway, i voted No on prop. 8 and when i told my mom that she should do the same, she called me crying. she said something about god and that i am doing something against god. it was sort of hilarious. The moral of the story, is that me, my sister and stevi’s vote squashed hers. But i guess it was not enough.

yessir. i think there was some text messages back and forth before she called. i seem to remember mentioning the reason i did not do my “confirmation” in 8th grade. I also had to explain that my pakistani friend is the nicest guy i knew, even though he followed the muslim faith. apparently she had something against “secret muslims”. Also, she likes Jay Leno… go figure.

When I talk to the “so called” Christian conservatives about this I try to remind them that this is government law we are talking about. That when you get government involved in regulating society it’ll lead to bigger government. It’s their right to hate gays if they want but I’ll tell them they are dead wrong every time. Treating the government like it’s God leads to bad things. What about Roman persecution of christians? Big Government is bad news all through history.
Just like with suffrage women used the constitution to get their rights I hope the gays are using it the same way because democracy is like two wolves and a sheep deciding what’s for dinner. Neo-Cons may come around if you explain it that way to them.
Kick ass Fight Tyranny!!!!!
this film exposes the hypocrisy of the so called christian conservatives:

First, I just watched Milk last night, Bethany and couldn’t believe that
it just happened when I was a teenager and totally oblivious.
I called people fag, etc and now feel bad about it.
As for Iowa, My friend Rich, told me a story he read about how Iowans
are crossing the boder for Wis. jobs and living in Iowa for cheaper taxes.
This “immigration” issue made me mad.
I year and 1/2 later, I see that Iowa allows gay marriage and Wisconsinites are crossing the border to get married. First they steal’
our jobs, then our gays. I say enough.
