…to do two amazing things:
1. I saw a rough cut of a documentary that will be out later this fall that is amazing, especially if you’re an art school nerd like myself. Legally, I can’t say anything about what I saw, but as soon as I’m allowed to do so I’ll write all about it right here, so stay tuned.
2. I took a quick (and possibly illegal) tour of Disney’s back lot in Burbank. Yeah, I got to see the sound stages and all that movie-making stuff, but the coolest part was walking by the original animation buildings that Walt built. All of Disney’s Golden Age of animation was created there, from “Peter Pan” to “The Jungle Book.” I’d been trying to get on the lot for awhile now, and last night I was finally lucky enough to do just that. Very, very cool.
Special thanks to the person who got me on; you know who you are.
More on this later… I promise,

Very cool indeed. I got a chance to hang out in the Disney World Animation Studio. (Pssst. I drew a brick in Mulan. 1/24 of a second of glory.) It’s quite the sensory overload.

That’s awesome, man! How did you swing that? That director of “Mulan” was one of TLC’s first interviews, Barry Cook. His sister, Mandy, went to CCAD with us.
Did you know her?

I have a friend that went to CCAD that works there. At the time he was an in-betweener. I got the tour and hung out for a few hours. The coolest thing aside from the brick was seeing the various promo art, and people working on “Mickey’s Runaway Brain” The first Mickey theatrical short in forty years
No, I didn’t know Mandy. As you know I’m far from the social butterfly. I hung out with the illo kids and only a few of them at that.

Yeah, she was a fine arts girl. A painter, actually. She makes these awesome portraits.
