I got the following email today from my good friend Mandy Cook:
Hi all,
My friend Meagan Patrick lives in Denver, Colorado. The week before Halloween she had what she describes as an “episode” while at work. She was rushed to the hospital and immediately underwent brain surgery. She was then diagnosed with stage 3 astrocytoma. This type of brain cancer is the same that Senator Ted Kennedy suffered from. Astrocytoma never goes away; she will have to fight it as long as she lives.
Meagan has no health insurance and no transportation (after all, she’s an artist). The website (linked below) was developed by her partner. Please take a moment to learn more about Meagan and donate if possible, and be sure to check back often as it will document Meagan’s condition and progress.
Website: Save Meagan Patrick
Meagan is an awesome gal. Please help in whatever way you can. Prayers are much needed.
Love,
Mandy
Please spread the word and help if you’re able.

Just donated. This is just some of the saddest news. My heart goes out to her and her partner and family. I posted it on facebook too. I hope the website helps bring in the donations. Thanks for sharing.

Although I don’t know Meagan I felt that I needed to donate something when I saw Mandy Cook’s post. I have been through the ringer myself with the cancer battle and I am recovering from surgery now.
This is when you find there really are some compassionate people still out there is this crazy world. There are no profound words that I or anyone can say to make it better, but I would like to share a piece from Nancy G. Brinker’s (founder of Susan G. Koman) book Promise Me.
“Every diagnosis is unique, and with all due respect to well-meaning loved ones, nervous insurers, and anyone else who feels some political, personal, or financial stake in the matter, Your diagnosis belongs to YOU, as do your treatment decisions, and you’re not obligated to justify them to anyone.”
So you take care of you and let others help, but don’t ever let them tell you that you don’t know what’s best for you.
