Nate Silver's "The Signal and the Noise"

…which is fascinating on a lot of levels. I highly recommend it if you’re interested in statistics and predictions, especially when it comes to politics, weather, and sports.

For me, two out of three isn’t bad.

Anyway, in chapter four, Silver mentions a website called Weather Underground, which essentially is a weather forecasting and reports site. But the site also has a cool feature in its History & Almanac feature (after entering your location, scroll about halfway down the page; you’ll find it on the left).

The History and Almanac feature allows you to see what the weather was like in a city on any given day, at any given time. So, for example, I found out that at 10:00 AM on Saturday, September 25th, 1976 (literally the hour I was born) it was 57 degrees in Milwaukee. Pretty cool.

Anyway, give it a try yourself if interested.

Easily amused,
