Mr. Dumpulous

When I posted the pic to Facebook a good friend of ours named Greg commented: “This is the most artistic picture of a dog taking a crap I’ve ever seen.”

A couple months later, I sent Greg and Mana (who is Greg’s new wife) a copy of the photo as a wedding gift.

A few weeks ago, Greg sent me this photo:

Fuck the Louvre! My art is hanging in Mana and Greg's bathroom!

That’s right, my photo of Mr. Fabulous taking a dump is now framed and hanging in their bathroom. Greg and Mana can now enjoy this beautiful image for all eternity… or at least every time they take a dump.

I’m honored to have art hanging anywhere in your house, guys, especially in such an important room.

…who is the four-year-old daughter of our good friends Brett and Marci, to draw a family portrait of us (including our three beasts).

What began as one drawing soon turned into nearly two dozen. Brett and Marci were kind enough to send all of them to us.

Holy art!

Apparently, our family’s females (which is everyone but me) became Lucy’s muse.

It was a hard choice, but in the end we decided to frame this one:

The Shadys by Lucy Beighley.

Yes, that’s KB walking Mr. Fabulous, Meatshake, and Heisenberg while I tag along, picking up piles of their smelly turds.

As payment, we sent Lucy a gift certificate to a toy store near her hometown. She bought two stuffed animals with her hard-earned money: a fluffy cat she named Cat, and a stingray she named Sea Horse.

This makes Lucy my favorite kid ever.

Just one in a series of commissioned portraits,

…is trying to raise $25,000 to fund a new documentary film about American photographer/artist Joel-Peter Witkin. The name of the project (for now, at least) is “Joel-Peter Witkin: An Objective Eye.”

If you don’t know what Witkin does, he creates a lot of imagery like this:

Sure, it’s not exactly for everyone. But if you’re an art and photo nerd like myself, you love it.

Anyway, Marino started up a Kickstarter page to raise money for the film. The page contains an outline of what he’s trying to accomplish, as well as a fancy trailer! Check it all out here.

Oh, and did I mention that my good friend Erik Rose is also involved in the project? Yep, he is! That’s his illustration work on the Kickstarter page.

So support indie film (and artists like Thomas and Erik) and donate today.
