Disturbing, but… yeah, I dig it,

Nick Stern/Banksy

Neither is Nick Stern.

Can’t wait to see the recreation of the dog pissing,

-Shady

…KB and I checked out a couple of the new Banksy pieces that popped up around town last week.

Unfortunately, someone already cut the Charlie Brown piece out of the wall it was on, but we did manage to check out two pieces.

For some reason, some dickbag threw paint on “Crayola Shooter” (click on images for larger versions):

The pissing dog, however, was untouched:

I wish I had gotten to see either the billboard or the Charlie Brown piece, but I still feel pretty lucky to now have seen four Banksy pieces in person. (Click here to see the first, and here to see the second.)

He’ll be robbed of an Oscar,

…for next week’s Oscars.

Since arriving, Banksy’s been busy making the city prettier. Here are a few pieces that have popped up around town since Monday (click on each image for a larger version):

The billboard was taken down within hours, but we’re heading out tomorrow to see a few of the wall pieces in person.

Stay tuned,

Ouch,

…KB and I checked out two pieces of street art.

First, we went downtown and hit up the second piece that Banksy left when he was in town last week for the premiere of “Exit Through the Gift Shop.”

Here’s the whole piece (click on all images to view larger versions):

Then we hit up this Shepard Fairey piece that popped up on the side of a building on Melrose Avenue a few weeks ago. The piece is a collage of huge sheets of wheat-paste posters.

Here’s the entire building:

One of the perks of living here,

…that I wrote about last week is no more.

THE PRIZE:

Win a limited edition “Exit Through the Gift Shop” poster from Banksy!*

THE PROPAGANDA:

Exit Through the Gift Shop: Coming to movie theaters in select cities across the United States starting April 16th.

Exit Through the Gift Shop, the first film by renowned graffiti artist Banksy, became the hottest ticket at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival where it made its world debut. Banksy is a graffiti artist with a global reputation whose work can be seen on walls from post-hurricane New Orleans to the separation barrier on the Palestinian West Bank. Fiercely guarding his anonymity to avoid prosecution, Banksy has so far resisted all attempts to be captured on film.

Exit Through the Gift Shop tells the incredible true story of how an eccentric French shop keeper turned documentary maker attempted to locate and befriend Banksy, only to have the artist turn the camera back on its owner – with spectacular results. The film contains exclusive footage of Banksy, Shepard Fairey, Invader and many of the world’s most infamous graffiti artists at work, on walls and in interview. As Banksy describes it, “It’s basically the story of how one man set out to film the un-filmable. And failed.”
