Suck it, 2016!

And then we watched Die Hard,

…with this old (and for some reason silent) clip that I came across on a video tape the other day.

The video shows me and my friends on New Year’s Eve 1997 in the old dorm at CCAD (Columbus College of Art & Design) as we get ready to ring in 1998.

I can’t make out everyone in the video, but I do see my good friends Jamie Bowers, Bryan and Alisha Loar, their daughter Anya, Cosby Lindquist, Jeremy “Jocco” Scott, Amanda Hope Cook, Jodi Boatman, and (I think) Jason Latta.

If anyone watching this spots anyone else, please let me know. I know it’s really hard to make out, but that’s what Hi8 cameras gave you back in the day.

I’m sure I have a version of this clip with audio somewhere, but it might take me literally years to find it. If and when I do, I’ll post it here for a comparison.

Until then:

The end of a silent era,

Back when I was living in Columbus, Ohio my friends and I started a quote wall. Whenever a bit of brilliance (or otherwise) poured out of someone’s mouth, somebody would yell “Quote!” thus nominating it for Quote Board status. The quote then had to be seconded by someone (it almost always was), and then it would be written down to be forever immortalized on the Quote Board.

This is the modern day equivalent of that classic piece of my past.
