Justin,
I know you are not a fan of the show, but I am a huge fan of the comic and subsequently the show. It’s the first time that I ever made it a point to watch AMC.
Thanks for sharing.

Yeah, still not a fan of the show, but Andrew is really great. Extremely nice, no Hollywood bullshit, and just a very approachable and kind guy. It kind of sucks because he made me wish I DID like the show!

It’s a good show. And a good comic, too. Aren’t you just being difficult?

No! I swear I tried to give it a chance. I read the first four or five trades of the comic and watched the entire first season of the show! If that’s not giving it a chance I don’t know what is! But I just find the whole thing to be terribly boring. As far as I’m concerned, they’re not really dipping into any new territory when it comes to the genre of zombie-dom. That, and the acting (SAVE FOR ANDREW LINCOLN, OF COURSE!) is pretty… um… not good.
What do I know, though? Everyone else loves it, so maybe it’s just me. Regardless, I can’t wait to see Lincoln pop up in something else.

When Kirkman first pitched the idea of the comic he pitched it as the zombie movie that never ends. You take that into account AND the idea that it’s not about zombies (that the zombies are just an “act of God”) and about the social dynamics and depravity of people after a catastophe, it could change your view on it.
Seriously, If it’s not for you, it’s not for you.
But I do remember somebody NOT watching a particular show until he met his sister’s significant other. Then you were ‘jones’n’ that show.
I’m certainly not trying to convince you to watch it, but I would like to hear your comments on it either way. Pro or con. So I guess it is disappointing to me if you don’t continue to watch it.
Anyway, Andrew Lincoln comes across as very humble. I’m glad it’s confirmed through an indirect contact that I have.
Take care!

Yeah, I’ve heard the “it’s a zombie story that’s not about the zombies” from every fan of the show and book. And to be honest, that’s my problem with it.
I WANT IT TO BE A ZOMBIE STORY! I want action and adventure. I don’t give a shit about families reconnecting or the search for lost loved ones. I know that sounds awful, but that’s not why I watch zombie movies. I watch them to see brains get eaten, flesh devoured. If I wanted to watch a show for the soap opera aspects of it I’d watch, well, a soap opera. And I haven’t watched a soap opera since they cancelled “Passions” back in the day.
As far as “Lost” goes, that’s a different situation. I originally didn’t watch “Lost” because, as a person who is TERRIFIED of flying, I didn’t really want to watch a show about a plane crash. That’s the main reason I didn’t watch from the beginning, not because I didn’t like it. And with “Lost” if you didn’t watch it from the beginning you may as well not watch it at all.
I won’t be watching the second season of “The Walking Dead” because I don’t think it’s good. Same reason I won’t be watching the second season of “The Killing.” Of course, even though she was equally as bored with it as I was, Kathy might want to give “TWD” another chance, which pretty much means I’ll be checking emails and writing “Blarg” posts while it’s on in the background. But unless something DRASTICALLY CHANGES with season two, I predict we won’t make it past the third episode, let alone the entire season.
Time will tell, though. Hopefully they sent some of those actors back to acting classes in their time off. And yes, I’m talking to you, Generic Asian Character.

Whoa! Justin… Like I said. I’m not trying to convince you to watch it and certainly not saying WHY you started watching “Lost”. The point about “Lost” was just to say that you decided to watch something AFTER the train had left the station and you dug it after that. I’m glad that you watched it after that.
To be fair too, I really just want to hear your comments, like I said, positive or negative. No skin off my back either way. If it ain’t your show it ain’t your show. I just know (I think) you’re a huge fan of “Breaking Bad”. Same network and they are pushing boundaries.
You mentioned you read the first 5 or 6 trades. Cool. You gave it a try.
In all fairness to the original material, AMC didn’t really do the first season justice by testing the waters with 6 episodes. But I understand that they had to. It’s Hollywood.
Peace out!

Oh, I know! Believe me, I’m not being confrontational. I was just explaining my opinion. But again, I’m clearly odd man out because everyone else I know (or at least almost everyone else I know) fucking loves it, so don’t ask me.
I do love “Breaking Bad.” I like “Mad Men.” But I was cold on “Rubicon,” bored with “The Walking Dead” and watching “The Killing” officially now makes me want to punch someone in the face. I love AMC, and I’m happy that they take chances. I just wish the people who made some of their shows would improve their game.
My issues with “TWD” are fairly basic: bad acting; story that goes nowhere; don’t care about the characters; not enough zombies/action. Other than that, it’s great!

I LOVE him (and the show!) when he leaned down to that partial corpse in the park and just before he put the bullet in her head said “I’m sorry this happened to you” I screamed “I’m IN!” Cannot wait for S2… just fun TV and it’s not a reality/gameshow/csi/lame comedy. I gotta watch something for escape!
