Ever since the Saving Charlie Chaplin live read last June, I’ve been fortunate enough to receive some awesome, Chaplin-inspired gifts from my amazing friends. (Some of you may remember this gift from my good friend Salomon.)
My (other) good friends Erik and César also recently sent me a couple Chaplin goodies. Cés sent me Chaplin: Stage by Stage by A.J. Marriot, a book about Chaplin’s theater work…
…and Erik sent me this flip book box of Chaplin’s “dinner roll dance” scene from The Gold Rush.
Thanks so much, fellas! Though I’m not big on opening gifts, I do enjoy and appreciate them.
I have the best (good) friends,
…for this awesome Luke Flowers Arcade Dayz print of Jim Henson and Kermit the Frog playing, obviously, Frogger.
He also threw in a few sweet stickers…
…as well as his take on a Press Your Luck Whammy.
Basking in these gifts like Michael Larson,
…since the Saving Charlie Chaplin read, but in the next few days I’m going to post my full thoughts on that absolutely amazing and insane night.
Until then, I wanted to share this.
As a thank you to both the Black List crew and the cast, I had a dozen of these coffee mugs made up.
I sent them as gifts, along with a pound of Milwaukee’s Colectivo Coffee, to everyone involved. A total of twelve people, including one that I kept for myself. Now, each morning, I enjoy a cup of coffee out of Chaplin’s nonexistent face.
It’s quickly become my favorite mug.
More on Saving Charlie Chaplin soon,
…for my birthday all the way from San Francisco.
Yeah, buddy!
But then, the very next day, I got these pairs of socks from my good friends Bryan and Alisha in Columbus.
And this pair of socks (which may or may not be knee-highs for a woman) from my good friend Sue in Los Angeles.
I’m sensing both a trend and a conspiracy here.
Still, all of the pairs are much appreciated… and desperately needed.
Socks it to me,
…for these amazing gifts that included stripper glasses (both male and female), a “Bitch, please. I’m from Chi-Town” coffee mug, a framed Wisconsin puzzle piece, some 4×5 and 120 film (more on that later), and two onesies for Grey.
In fact, she wore the “Chicago Style” one home from the hospital yesterday.
I liked the film best,
…for these amazing handmade gifts from New Mexico!
Grey now has a dreamcatcher hanging above her crib…
…a rattle in her hand…
…and a bracelet around her wrist.
Thanks for thinking of us!
You’d think she were royalty by the amount of gifts,
…after we got back from our trip back home for the holidays.
I hit the jackpot toward the end of last year! Look at all this sweet swag I got!
I got new stickers (including two Classic Slice Pizza stickers by Dwellephant)…
…a sweet-ass MKE coffee cup (plus a print and a bag of coffee) from Stone Creek Coffee (Thanks, Milan and Dori!)…
…a Dwellephant Mucca Pazza print…
…a new Milwaukee Brewing Co. pint glass (Thanks, Tiggins!)…
…an iron and devilish Krampus “ornament” (Thanks, Sean!)…
…and KB and I returned home to find gifts from our good friends Mark and Julius (who were staying at our place while we were out of town), including this print from Montana-based photographer Juan de Santa Anna…
…and three jars of artisan jams from Oregon.
We also returned home to find boxes of Muth’s Candy Modjeskas and Kentucky Bourbons waiting for us (Thanks, Lattas!)…
…and this scented candle in an old Wilhelm Scream beer bottle and a few Poo Pourri samples (Thanks, Jamie and Dave!).
Thanks for the gifts, everyone! And sorry for the delay in giving thanks.
At least I posted it before Easter,
…sent me this sweet skull candle holder and potato scrubber guy!
Thanks, guys! You’re the best!
Now I can scrub potatoes and worship Satan at the same time,
